12/23/2019 0 Comments Juice WRLD: Gone Too soonWhat is it about music that makes you sing?
What is it about the instruments that make you close your eyes and sway; that make you scream and cry when your favorite artist walks out on stage? What is it that makes you want to play the song over and over and over again? What is it? I wanted to write this because music moves us, it connects us and Juice WRLD touched me through his music. His song Lucid Dreams has a similar instrumental to the song Fragile: a song by another one of my favorite artists, Sting. I was in the car when the song came on the radio and I fell in love. In the media, the worst is always depicted about the artist when they die-the drugs, their past, maybe jail time- but for once I just wanted to see and write something positive about the artist and talk about what they did; and for me, Juice WRLD made me smile over a song I hadn’t thought about in years. He brought new memories to an old piece of music-he made me sing. So when we make connections to artists after they’ve passed, maybe talk about the connections to you that made you like them in the first place: the memories, the feelings, the people and old songs. Or maybe it’s the lyrics, or the beat or that one guitar part that just drives you crazy. At the end of the day, it brings us closer together. Music brings people closer together, whether we want to be or not and I think that’s what makes it so amazing. The connections. I wish Juice WRLD had more time; I wish I could still cry at every MJ concert, but sometimes, if music is all we’re left with-especially for artists who have passed-then it’s up to us to cherish their legacy as much as we can. Play Juice WRLD to let him know, he wasn’t alone when he died-we’re still here, still listening; screaming, crying, dancing, singing and swaying to his music. He made music that touched our souls. I hope that’s what he came here to do. Peace and love to Juice WRLD. Until next time! With love, Arianna
